The 2019 Trails Challenge ends Friday, Setember 27th at FallFest!
We love seeing your pictures from the trail- tag @hanoverconservancy and use #hanovertrailschallenge to be featured on our site!
Co-sponsored by the Hanover Conservancy and Hanover Parks & Rec, the Trails Challenge is a do-at-your-own-pace hiking event that runs all summer.
The official end date always aligns with Fallfest at Storrs Pond, held on the last Friday of September.
Turn in your completed booklet at the Conservancy table to win raffle prizes from local business sponsors listed below, or bring it by the Hanover Conservancy office any time before FallFest to be entered (71 Lyme Road).
The Challenge is ideal for families looking for activities throughout summer vacation, and is just as fun for adults or couples who want to explore new areas. Anyone can register- you do not need to be a Hanover resident.
Registration is $6/person or $20/family of 4 or more. $2 from each registration will go towards trail maintenance in Hanover to support these special places.
Hikers register at hanoverrec.com and receive a booklet with maps and directions to 8 local trails. Some trails are within walking distance of downtown Hanover, and several are further out, so you can find new favorite spots in town.
NEW this year: T-shirts are optional and $5 each. Order as many as you like! Each year our t-shirts have a different theme encouraging you to “Get Outdoors and Explore!” 2019 artwork is by Sarah McPeek- thanks, Sarah!
All maps are produced by Emily Bryant at Stonehouse Mountain Mapping.
All of the 2019 destination markers were designed by Richmond Middle School art students. The RMS student body voted on the designs, and the 10 winning pieces were burned precisely onto the wooden markers in the school’s new “maker space.” We hope you enjoy their creativity on your hikes- and THANK YOU to all of the students who participated in the design challenge!
THANK YOU TO OUR GENEROUS PROGRAM SPONSORS!
