Mink Brook bridge as good as new

May 30, 2013

Thanks to the volunteers who came out on Upper Valley Trails Day to help Bill Knight repair and stabilize our beautiful bridge. Next up – a new round of activity at our Balch Hill Natural Area, where we are working under a cost-share grant from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service to restore habitat and this historic agricultural landscape. Wider views will be the reward for human visitors!

Spring Trip Cards & Bears

April 4, 2013

Current Hanover Conservancy members have now received colorful cards announcing our spring series of trips and programs. If you’d like to come along, find our schedule here.

Spring means new life! Neighbors of the Mink Brook Nature Preserve report a mother bear with two large cubs. These were likely born last year and are continuing their “home schooling” with their mother.  Keep your eyes out (and we suggest leashing your dog).

Sayonara, Sandy

October 28, 2012

Thanks to those who reported downed trees and limbs courtesy of Hurricane Sandy. We have two trees down across the trails at each of the following natural areas: Greensboro Ridge, Balch Hill Natural Area, and Mink Brook. Our volunteers will be heading out to clear these obstructions and hazards as soon as possible. If you’d like to help, please contact us.

Quinn Trail help needed

August 16, 2012

The Quinn Trail at the Mink Brook Nature Preserve is well-used and loved. Help us spread a load of wood chips on the trail to improve the path surface – Wednesday, August 22, 5;15pm. Bring a rake or shovel, and meet at the Brook Road gate.

Get the Garlic Mustard at Mink Brook!

July 9, 2012

Huge garlic mustard leaf at Mink Brook

Garlic mustard is exploding near the Mink Brook Nature Preserve, in a patch near the brook wedged between parcels owned by the Hanover Conservancy and the Upper Valley Land Trust. Help us yank it before it invades the preserve.

Wednesday, July 11, 4:00-6:30 pm. Meet at UVLT at 19 Buck Road. More info
