Living With Bears- Ben Kilham’s Talk Now Online!
The bears are back! Bring in your birdfeeders, secure garbage and compost, and keep your grills clean to prevent negative bear-human interactions.
Watch Ben Kilham’s full presentation on living with bears, thanks to our local Community Access TV crew. Find out more about Ben’s work at kilhambearcenter.org.
Spring Trips Postponed
We’re disappointed to postpone our trips until we can safely get together again. Look for a new self-guided Hike of the Month in our May e-news.
If you’re headed out, please remember:
- Enjoy your companions from a distance
- Leash your dog – uncontrolled dog meetups can make things unsafe for their owners too
- If a trailhead parking is full when you arrive, have a Plan B for a trail less traveled
- Leave higher elevation and muddy trails until they’ve dried out
- The Appalachian Trail is closed for now
Whales & Tales!
Hanover High School Auditorium: Thursday, November 8th
- Refreshments from 6:30-7:00 p.m.
- Talk from 7:00- 8:00; Q&A to follow
- Hanover Conservancy meeting of the membership ~8:15
FREE and great for all ages!
Butterflies For All
Come explore the lovely world of some of our local butterflies with Bill Shepard at the Etna Library on Monday, August 13th at 3:00.
Look at specimens and learn about moth & butterfly resources before heading outside to the Hayes Farm Park & Nan and Allen King Bird Sanctuary to try your hand at catching a few!
This fun & informative event is recommended for ages 8+, but all are welcome. Event includes a short, easy walk behind the library.
Celebrations All Around
On Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 1pm, we’ll be celebrating the conservation of the Mill Pond Forest and Huggins Trail Access. Join us at the top of Moose Mountain Lodge Road (and dress warmly!).
On Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 4:30-6pm, we’ll celebrate the close of another successful year with the annual meeting of our membership at the Howe Library. All are welcome.
